Ways Great Builders & Contractors can Make Your Life Easier

Monday, March 16th, 2015

Remodeling is always a big job, regardless of the space or the changes you plan on making. There are a lot of things you need to consider before embarking on a remodeling project, perhaps the most important of which is who you’re going to hire to do most of the work.

Sure, there are plenty of people out there who will tell you that you can just do it yourself, that it’s a waste of money to hire contractors, and that you’ll be much happier if you just do it your way.

Here’s the problem: none of those things are entirely true. Yeah, you could try it yourself, but you’d be taking on a very big job with little to no help and no experience to rely on. Rather than going it alone, and possibly biting off more than you can chew, have a look at all the ways that great builders and contractors can make your life easier.

There are two primary ways that professional contractors make your life easier when it comes to remodeling. Time is the first of these. As previously mentioned, there are a lot of things to plan, measure, buy, tear out, and install during a remodeling project. Even if you’re an expert at this kind of thing, you probably don’t want to slog through all of those steps by yourself. You might get it done, but it could easily take years if you don’t have an equally expert team to rely on. Hiring a professional contractor from the start can ensure that your project gets done in a timely manner.

The biggest misconception about doing remodeling projects yourself is that you’ll save a lot of money doing so. This honestly just isn’t true. In the short term, perhaps you’ll save a few thousand dollars by not hiring anyone to help you. However, if you don’t have professional experience in these kinds of projects it is very likely that you’ll demo or install something incorrectly. That can lead to issues further down the line, and you’ll end up having to hire a contractor anyway to fix whatever it was that was done wrong.

Hiring a good contractor is the best way to ensure you get a great return on investment. A contractor worth his rate will know the best way to stay within budget, while giving you the best possible remodel.

If you’re looking for help with your building or remodeling project, call Advanced Builders & Contractors. We provide building and remodeling services throughout the Pacific Palisades area.

Saving Money on a Remodeling Project

Monday, March 9th, 2015

Remodeling is expensive. That’s the cold, hard fact of the matter. A “cheap” remodel tends to be low quality as well as low cost, and no one wants that. Just because remodeling is expensive, however, that doesn’t mean it has to be in-affordable.

There are a few different things you can do to cut costs on your remodeling project, without compromising the quality of the work. Let’s take a look at some of these methods for saving money, while still giving you the remodel you’ve always wanted.

Focus on Economy of Space

Everyone has looked at a room or two in their house and thought “If only I could just move that wall out a few feet,” or “This kitchen could really use a bigger pantry.” While those aren’t necessarily bad things to pursue, you should understand that expanding a room is one of the most expensive remodeling projects you can undertake.

If you’re looking to save money, you should instead focus on using the space you have to its fullest potential. Maybe removing an interior wall could really open up the space (as long as it’s not a load-bearing wall!), rather than pushing the whole room outward. Instead of trying to expand out to give yourself more room, consider altering the space you’ve already got.

Plan Ahead

The more planning you do before starting your remodeling project, the more money you’re going to save. There are always one or two things that end up not working for whatever reason in the middle of the project, requiring you to switch to a different option. However, if you don’t plan extensively before starting your project you’re going to find yourself spending a lot more money changing materials and such at the most inopportune times.

Part of this planning should include allowing for more room in the budget than you think you need. You don’t want to find out once you’ve already started that you didn’t budget generously enough, and that you can’t afford to finish the project.

If you’d like to know more ways to save money on a remodeling project, call Advanced Builders & Contractors. We provide home remodeling services throughout Los Angeles.

3 Things to Plan for When Remodeling Your Kitchen

Monday, March 3rd, 2014

Undertaking a kitchen remodel can help enhance your home life in many ways. Often, the kitchen is a major spot of socializing and gathering for families and becomes as much a core of the house as a living room. With the right redesign or expansion, you can make your kitchen the ideal place to knit together your family in a pleasant environment—and make your kitchen more convenient and functional at the same time.

Here are a few things to plan for when you remodel your kitchen. Among the many remodeling contractors in Beverly Hills, CA from which to choose, look to Advanced Builders & Contractors for a company that can take care of all stages of the remodel and streamline the process to save you time and help you toward the new kitchen you want.

Take an active role in designing

One of the key things you should look for in a remodeling contractor is one that wants to work closely with you during the design phase so you can devise the appearance you want for your new kitchen. With the right architects working to guide you, you will be able to make most of the major decisions to direct the project.

Expanding your kitchen space

A kitchen remodel can go much farther than redesigning and rebuilding the existing space. If you find that your kitchen feels inadequate to your needs—something that often happens when your family begins to grown—or you simply find the kitchen feels too cramped, you can plan a kitchen addition as part of your remodel. You can add more storage space, room for extra appliances… or even a second kitchen! Make sure you have a remodeling contractor equipped and experienced enough to undertake this extensive work.

Putting in new cabinets

Sometimes when remodeling a kitchen, homeowners focus more on larger construction issues such as major appliances, flooring material, and countertops and leave the cabinets “as is.” But new cabinetry can make the perfect final touch on a kitchen, and also improve storage space and convenience. Find a contractor who offers a selection of cabinets in different materials and a variety of finishes so you can pick the ideal new look for your kitchen.

When you come to Advanced Builders & Contractors for your kitchen remodeling, you are putting the job in the hands of a company with 25 years of experience and some of the finest engineers, draftsmen, and architects on staff. Let us combine all the various jobs of different Beverly Hills, CA remodeling contractors and put them under one roof to make your kitchen remodeling go smoothly and even enjoyably.

3 Things to Consider with a Room Addition

Monday, February 17th, 2014

A new room addition onto a home provides an excellent alternative for expanding your living space without needing to buy or construct a new home. If your family is growing, older children need their own space, relatives move in, or you need to add on a workspace for your business, a room addition can offer the ideal solution.

Although a smaller project than building a new home, a room addition is still a major project that requires careful consideration. The work will go easier with the right contractor assisting you. Among the many Los Angeles remodeling contractors available, we think you’ll find that Advanced Builders & Contractors offers advantages that will help you get the room addition you want.

Here are three tips we have for you at the start of deciding on a room addition:

  1. Have the new room visualized: If you go to a building contractor with only a vague idea of what you want done for your new addition, the job will be more difficult and you may not end up with what you really wanted. Make sure you have a solid idea; but even better, go to a contractor who offers 3D visualization services that will help you come up with a workable design so you will know you will get exactly what you want.
  2. Plan your budget: Most homeowners will have a limited budget available to allot for a room addition. You should have a solid sense of how much you can spend on this project, so it’s a good idea to look over your finances and judge the return you can expect from the addition. (This is particularly important if the new room is a workspace.) Consult with your contractor about the different services available to help devise a budget that will allow for the construction project you want that won’t place too much stress on your finances.
  3. Look to have many tasks centralized with one company: A room addition is a large undertaking, and it will need many more services than basic construction. The addition will involve architects, craftsmen, and engineers. There are companies to offer each of these services, but this can turn into a major hassle as you must deal with individual contractors and worry about whether they are capable of unifying their work. Look for a contractor who can bring as many of the services in-house as possible to simplify the process.

If you go with Advanced Builders & Contractors for your room addition, you will have most of the important services under one roof. With our design/build system, the architect and the builder work together closely to realize your project, and they will work closely with you as well. When you are searching among Los Angeles, CA building contractors, pick Advanced Builders & Contractors.
